Each year a budget allocation is made in order to provide a Christmas remembrance for each child in the Department's care or custody who is not in an adoptive placement.  The amount per child is determined annually by the Director of the Bureau of Social Services based on the total funds available for this purpose and the number of children to be served.  A check is issued to each Regional Manager for Administration and the distribution of checks for individuals is administered by Regional Administration staff based on information provided by the caseworkers.
