Triennial Review of Water Quality Standards

Comment deadline: October 25, 2021

The Board of Environmental Protection (Board) is preparing proposals for changes to Maine water quality standards for the 130th Legislature in accordance with the Triennial Review requirement in 38 M.R.S. Section 464(3)(B). The Board will hold a public hearing on the proposals on October 7, 2021 in Augusta. Following the hearing and public comment period, the Board may recommend statutory changes to the Legislature for its consideration in the next Legislative session.

Comments on the Triennial Review proposals may be submitted orally to the Board at the hearing, or in writing until the close of the public comment period on Tuesday, October 25, 2021 at 5:00 pm. During the public comment period, the Board also invites the public to submit additional proposals for changes to Maine's water quality standards.
