About Us
At the Maine Forest Service, we share your vision for beautiful, healthy and productive woodland. We respect your decisions, and can help put your decisions into action. Our advice is free and expert.

To help you get started

Meeting with a Maine Forest Service Forester on your land should always be one of your top priorities. Whether you are just beginning to think about your objectives for your woodlands, or evaluating your long-term plans, a Maine Forest Service District Forester can answer your questions in person, for free. While walking your land with you, the Forester will point out opportunities for enhancing woodland beauty, improving diverse wildlife habitats, protecting the health of your trees, keeping water clean and putting good forestry practices to work.

You'll want to take notes or even use a tape recorder to capture all the ideas Maine Forest Service Foresters offer. You will probably begin to think differently about your land and trees as you grow more woods wise. And the more you learn about your woodlands, the more questions you'll have about the best ways to realize your vision for your land and trees.

You can rely on the Maine Forest Service as your primary source of information about woodlands. In addition to meeting a Maine Forest Service Forester on your land, you often can have your questions answered quickly by telephone. And you can order printed booklets and other materials while you are at it.
