Tales of the Tracks at Ferry Beach State Park

Division / Program: Parks and Lands

Date: August 13, 2022
Time: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Location: 95 Bayview Road, Saco, Maine
State Park: Ferry Beach
Event Type: Nature Exploration

Animal tracks always tell a story. What creature was present? What was it doing? What was happening around it? Where did it go? Join the ranger on the trails of Ferry Beach State Park, where each bridge contains a unique set of animal tracks. There, you will identify the animal that made the tracks, discuss what the tracks can tell us about the animal's patterns, and determine how the animal interacts with the world around it. Along the way you will discuss the common wildlife of Ferry Beach State Park, the basic principles of tracking and, if the conditions are right, you might even encounter some freshly-made tracks! Meet at the Nature Center entrance, wear sturdy shoes and dress for changing weather conditions. Event may be cancelled or moved inside the Nature Center in the event of continuous precipitation or lightning in the area. All ages welcome.

Nature Center Hours: 2-4pm Saturday August 6, 13, 20, 27 and 2-4pm Sunday August 7, 14, 21, 28
