Under the bargaining agreements and long-standing practice, an employee who is newly assigned to a position eligible for payment toward eye exams and corrective lenses is required to get an initial eye exam.  The question is whether such a newly assigned employee should use administrative leave or sick leave for the initial eye exam.  Since the initial eye exam is required, newly assigned employees may use administrative leave.  For subsequent eye exams, however, employees are required to use sick leave, just like any other doctor appointment.
