Augusta Communications Center

The Regional Communications Center in Augusta is located at the Department of Public Safety Headquarters.  We are a 911 Dispatch Center also known as a PSAP: Public Safety Answering Point.  Our team of dedicated Emergency Communication Specialists answers the call for eleven of Maine’s 16 counties: York, Cumberland, Oxford, Androscoggin, Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox, Waldo, Somerset, Franklin, and Kennebec.  We perform EMD: Emergency Medical Dispatch and EFD: Emergency Fire Dispatch on all calls for service that require them.  We provide dispatch services for all State Public Safety agencies, including the Maine State Police, Warden Services, Maine Forest Service, Marine Patrol, State Fire Marshal, and other State agencies.  Other Law enforcement agencies that we dispatch for are the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department and Gardiner Police Department. 

We dispatch for the Gardiner Fire Department and volunteer fire departments for the towns of Litchfield, Vassalboro, Chelsea, Windsor, Cornish, Hiram, Limington, and Kezar Falls Fire Department, which serves the towns of Porter and Parsonsfield. 

We also dispatch for Gardiner Rescue, which serves the towns of Gardiner, Litchfield, West Gardiner, Farmingdale, Pittston, Richmond, Randolph, and part of Chelsea, as well as Litchfield, Vassalboro, and Windsor First Responders.  We provide dispatch services for Limington Rescue and Sacopee Rescue, serving the towns of Cornish, Hiram, Parsonsfield, and Porter.

Bangor Communications Center

The Regional Communication Center in Bangor was relocated from the old State Police Barracks in Orono to its current location in Bangor in 2014. They share this building with the Maine State Police and Major Crimes Unit, North. The center is a state-of-the-art communication center and serves the people of Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Washington Counties. Bangor RCC is responsible for receiving and relaying public safety information, instructions, and requests from the general public and other State and local law enforcement agencies. Bangor is 911 PSAP and employs approximately 14 dispatchers and one Operations Manager.

Houlton Communications Center

The Regional Communications Center in Houlton is a state-of-the-art facility with some of the latest in communications equipment. The Houlton RCC proudly serves the people of Aroostook County, commonly referred to as “The County”. Aroostook is Maine's largest county, and is also the largest county east of the Mississippi.  The RCC is responsible for receiving and relaying public safety information, instructions, and requests from and to the general public and police, fire, and rescue personnel via computer, Teletype, radio and telephone. They answer all cellular 9-1-1 calls that originate in Aroostook County, as well as 9-1-1 calls for the city of Augusta. With hundreds of miles of recreational trails and a majority of The County being remote, there are times when calls become multiagency responses. Houlton RCC provides Emergency Medical and Fire Dispatch information via telephone to persons requiring assistance while waiting for rescue personnel.

The original Barracks was built in 1939 and was located in front of the radio tower. In 2000, the new barracks was built behind the tower and is the current headquarters for the Maine State Police Troop F, Houlton RCC, Major Crimes North, Maine State Police Maintenance facility, and has offices for the Maine Warden Service, Maine Forest Service, Maine Fire Marshal's Office and MaineIT.
