Business Training Initiative

This program provides financial assistance to companies to help offset the cost of providing industry recognized training and credentials to new or existing employees. To be eligible your company must:

  1. Fall within the NSAI industry cluster,
  2. Pay competitive wages,
  3. Provide an in-kind or cash match
  4. Provide a wage increase to incumbent employee/trainees within 12 months
  5. Assure that employee-trainees complete participant tracking forms.

On-The-Job-Training

This program provides partial wage reimbursement to companies in the NSAI cluster to assist with the cost of training new hires in job-specific skill development.

LiLA Lifelong Learning Accounts

These employee NextGen Educational Savings Accounts can be offered as part of your employee benefit package. LiLA account holders employed by companies within the NSAI industry cluster who have contributed to their accounts for at least four consecutive months can receive a one-time scholarship that can be applied towards tuition, books and fees for the account holder’s first semester.

Maine Apprenticeship Program

The Apprenticeship Program is a combination of practical on-the-job skill development and formal related classroom instruction that provides the academic and theoretical components required for attainment of skill competency. NSAI will pay 100% of all required related instruction costs during the apprentice’s first year, 75% of tuition costs for the second year, and 50% of tuition cost for the third year.

Pre-Apprenticeship Program

The Pre-Apprenticeship Program offers high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to learn first hand about occupations in your industry. Pre-Apprenticeship can offer a pathway directly to work, registered apprenticeship or post-secondary training.

Educational Award Program

This program provides financial scholarships to individuals seeking to attain skills that will prepare them to enter the industry. Scholarships are dedicated to: Maine High School graduates entering programs of study required by the industry, Maine dislocated workers seeking to transition into new occupations, or Maine residents who are new labor force entrants seeking the skills necessary to enter the industry.
