Capitalization & Infrastructure DevelopmentPillar ProfileThe NSAI Capitalization Pillar is lead by Mark Ouellette, Director of the Office of Business Development within the Department of Economic and Community Development. The committee consists of representation from five private businesses, three state agencies, two professional associations, private venture capital, and five public regional and state development organizations. The mission of the Capitalization Pillar is to develop strategies for providing economic development assistance to companies within the targeted sector to support new investments such as infrastructure improvement and expansion, technology advancement, and quality job growth. Current Initiatives:Providing access to funds to support workforce development associated with Research and Development activities in conjunction with the identification and development of prospective products and technologies. Convening public and private investment partners to develop a low-interest, patient capital loan program to be administered through or with the assistance of the pillar committee. Moving towards the identification of a collaborative model through which companies from within the targeted sector can access affordable working waterfront property. Customizing and delivering management training to strengthen the viability and sustainability of small and growing companies. News & EventsOn Tuesday, June 12, 2007, Governor John Baldacci met with senior representatives of 18 Maine banks and four public lending institutions to talk about a low-interest loan program for Maine’s boat building, marine and composite industries. more >> |
