Retired Pay: Retiree above 60 and retired AGR personnel (Blue ID Card) are eligible for retired pay. Gray area retirees, those who retire before age 60 (Red ID Card) are not.
Commissary Visits: Gray area retirees are granted limited commissary visits, while Blue ID retirees vave unlimited priviledges.
Exchange Services: All retirees have unlimited use of exchange priviledges, including the Class Six.
Medical Services: Blue ID holders have access to medical services from an HMO or space available military facilities. This ends either at 65 or rntitlment to medicare.
Officer/NCO Open Mess/Club: All retirees are able to use the mess/clubs. Many of these clubs do require membership dues.
Servicemen's Group Life INS. (SGLI): SGLI is available to Gray area retirees but they will pay a higher rate than a drilling reservist. AGR may purchase VGLI.
Space Available Travel: All retirees may use Space Available travel. Spousal tarvel, hovever is limited overseas for Gray area retirees.
Retains Military Identity: All Maine Guard retirees retain their retired rank.
Burial in a National Cemetary: Retirees can be buried in a National Cemetery. Only bonafide Veterans, however, can be buried in the Maine Veteran Cemetary.
Survivor Assistance/Military Honors: Survivors assistance and military burial honors in Maine are available for retirees.
Survivor Benefit Plan: If elected, all retirees are eligible for the Survivor benefits plan.
Transient Quarters (Guest Houses): Available to all retirees.
Veterans' Group Life INS: VGLI is not available to Gray area retirees. AGR retirees may elect VGLI coverage.
