The Treasurer's Office Has 10 Major Duties

  1. Cash Management

    Management of 37 State of Maine bank accounts, receipt of all State revenues, and distribution of over 2 million vendor and payroll checks, as well as 506,000 electronic payments each year.

  2. Investments

    State revenues are held and invested through the Treasurer's Cash Pool Portfolio.

  3. Revenue Forecasting

    Five revenue lines are projected by the Treasurer for the Revenue Forecasting Committee.

  4. Cash Management Improvement Act (CMIA)

    Assists State Agencies with CMIA compliance.

  5. Trusts & Custodial Services

    Acts as trustee for one of the Baxter State Park Trusts, the State's Several Trusts and the Land Trust.

  6. Bonds

    Issues the State's General Obligation bonds and coordinates Maine's presentations to Bond Rating Agencies.

  7. Revenue Sharing

    Distributes monthly revenue sharing funds to 492 municipalities.

  8. Unclaimed Property

    Manages Maine's Unclaimed Property effort that reunites lost property with its rightful owner.

  9. NextGen College Investing Program

    Chairs the investment advisory committee for the Nextgen College Investing Program.

  10. Tobacco Settlement

    Projects and receives Maine's annual payments resulting from the Master Settlement Agreement between the States and certain cigarette manufacturer.
