Lemoine sworn in for Third Term as State Treasurer

David Lemoine, 48th Treasurer of the State of Maine, was sworn into office in a State House ceremony today. He was joined by Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap, State Auditor Neria Douglass and Attorney General Janet Mills.
“Today, for the third time, I have had the great honor of standing in this House of Representatives to take the oath of office as Maine’s State Treasurer, and to accept again the obligations of this position,” said Lemoine. Adding, “Many of these obligations, as headlines everywhere acknowledge, are more difficult to perform now than at any time in decades.”
Lemoine outlined some of the challenges facing state finances in the current market and economy, but concluded by noting that “we are indeed living in a wonderful state during a time of fundamental change. We can expect great opportunities.”
“With solid Maine values, a spirit of cooperation and lots of honest effort, we can and will work our way through these current budget challenges to better times,” said Lemoine. He concluded with the promise that “as this process unfolds, this Treasurer’s Office will be ready to help wherever we can, whenever we can, and to shoulder our share of the load along the way.”
