Crystal Perry (SOLVED)

Case date: 1994

Town: Bridgton

31 year old Michael K. Hutchinson was indicted by a Cumberland County Grand Jury on April 5, 2006 for the 1994 murder of Crystal Perry. Crystal Perry was killed in the early morning hours on May 12, 1994 at her home on Route 93. She lived there with her 12 year old daughter, who was in the residence during the attack. Her daughter fled the residence to a restaurant nearly one mile away for help. Hutchinson is now in the Cumberland County Jail and will be arraigned on Thursday, April 13th, 2006.

The indictment comes after evidence collected during the initial investigation of this case was matched to evidence recently obtained and analyzed. The Maine State Police Crime Lab played a critical role in the recent developments and DNA will be a major factor.

Hutchinson was 19 years old at the time of the murder. He lived in Bridgton and was employed as a mason. Until his arrest, both were still true.

Crystal was 30 years old at the time of her death and worked at the Sebago Shoe Shop in Bridgton.

Dozens of investigators from the Maine State Police and the Bridgton Police Department have been involved in this case through the years. They have spent thousands of hours working on it. The Crime Lab has also spent hundreds of hours analyzing the evidence.
