Troop B Weekly Highlights October 26 through November 1, 200911/03/2009 Trooper Casey responded to a complaint in West Paris of a juvenile shooting a BB gun at other juveniles in the area. Through investigation, Trooper Casey located the suspect as well as an accomplice and obtained a confession of the incident from both. The BB gun was also located and seized. The suspect was already on juvenile conditions of release for several felonies. Contact was made with the JCCO and another restriction of house arrest was authorized on the suspect. He was subsequently charged with Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon and released into the custody of his mother. Trooper Stevenson stopped a car doing 100 mph in a posted 50 mph zone on Upper Street in Turner. The driver was sixteen years old. He had his license for 45 days. He was charged with criminal speeding and turned over to his parents. Tr. Wing arrested a subject he found slumped over the wheel of a vehicle after the individual failed field sobriety tests. A subsequent intoxilyzer showed a BAC of .17%. He was charged with OUI. Trooper Casey stopped a vehicle in Roxbury for speeding and determined that the operator had been drinking. After failing field sobriety testing, the operator was subsequently arrested and charged with OUI. His breath test resulted in a 0.12% BAC. Trooper Casey stopped to render assistance to a disabled van on Center Street in Auburn. Upon making contact with the operator, Trooper Casey determined that the female operator had been drinking. Through investigation, Trooper Casey determined the female was impaired and was arrested and charged with OUI. Her ten year old son was also with her in the vehicle during this time. Her breath test resulted in a 0.15% BAC. Trooper Bureau stopped a motorist on Rt. 26A that was speeding and tailgating his cruiser. The male operator, who had his 11 year old son riding as a passenger, showed obvious signs of impairment and was put through a battery of tests to determine impairment. He was subsequently arrested for OUI and transported to the Cumberland County Jail and charged with OUI (refusal) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The mother came to the scene and brought the boy home. Trooper Hanson attempted to stop a speeding van in the early morning hours in Buckfield. The van continued its speed and did not react to the cruisers lights and siren. The van traveled for approximately 2 miles speeding and weaving from the shoulder to center line. The van finally came to a stop and the operator was found to be intoxicated. After failing SFST’s the operator was arrested for OUI and transported to Oxford County Jail. The operator’s BAC was .22%. Trooper Casey observed a male subject he knew to have a suspended license operating a vehicle in Peru. Trooper Casey, unable to turn and locate the vehicle due to traffic, went to the suspects’ residence and made contact with him there. Trooper Casey obtained a confession from the man about driving and also conducted a search of his residence due to him having current search and test conditions. He was subsequently charged with OAS and Violation Conditions of Release. Trooper Pappas arrested two drivers this week for criminal operating after suspension. One driver was currently on probation and bail conditions for burglarizing several churches in Portland this spring. She was also charged with violation of bail as well as a probation violation issued from her probation officer. Trooper Stevenson responded to a car/deer crash on Rt. 4 in Livermore. When Trooper Stevenson arrived on scene a passerby was caught trying to steel the deer. Trooper Stevenson was able to stop the vehicle. The operator was charged with OAS, providing false name, and illegal transportation of a deer. The subject also had two warrants for his arrest. Tr. Wing assisted Bethel PD and Oxford SO with a road rage incident in which the complainant alleged the respondent was throwing items at their car and kept making U Turns. An Oxford Deputy located the vehicle and another Deputy put the driver through SFST's. The Deputy identified 3 of 4 passengers and Tr. Wing identified the 4th. The 4th passenger was on bail not to have contact with one of the other passengers from a burglary. The Deputy arrested the Driver for OUI and Tr. Wing arrested the passenger (sister) for violation of bail. At the jail Tr. Wing ran the intoxilyzer for the Deputy and the driver's BAC was a .14%. TR. FILLEBROWN responded to a domestic dispute in the Town of Otisfield. Upon investigation it was found the female was struck near the eye after the male grabbed the phone away from her. The male was advised he was under arrest and failed to comply and raised his fist towards Tr. Fillebrown. The male was arrested and transported to the Hospital for evaluation prior to the Jail taking him. After being cleared he was brought to the Oxford County Jail where he was summonsed for D/V assault and Refusing to submit to arrest. Trooper Farley took a report of a possible violation of a protection order. Upon making contact with the victim Trooper Farley discovered the male had been sending her text messages. Trooper Farley located the subject in Portland. The subject confessed to sending the text messages. He was charged with Violation of a Protection Order and Violation of Bail Conditions. Trooper Farley stopped a vehicle for no front plate. After a brief investigation it was determined the operator was in possession of a marijuana pipe. The male was charged accordingly. Trooper Physic summoned an individual for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Trooper Casey stopped a vehicle in Canton for an inadequate exhaust. The seventeen year old operator and his eighteen year old passenger where found to be in possession of alcohol, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and where charged accordingly. Trooper Casey responded to assist Rumford, Mexico and Dixfield Police Departments in Mexico following a melee that occurred there involving approximately twenty people fighting with four officers. Trooper Casey arrived and assisted in arresting one female for a Rumford Officer and maintaining control of the scene. Other units began arriving to assist and efforts were made to transport seven arrested subjects to jail. As Trooper Casey was leaving he observed a male subject screaming out obscenities and arrested him for Disorderly Conduct. Trooper Pappas arrested two subjects for outstanding warrants. Both warrants were for failing to pay fines on misdemeanor crimes. |
