TROOP/UNIT: Troop J Items of interest to Local Media: 10-26-09 Tpr. Staci Carpenter received a theft complaint from Deblois. The caller reported that a 2HP Honda outboard motor had been taken from outside her residence. Investigation continues. Tpr. Greg Burns received a request from the computer crimes task force to speak with a subject in Cutler who claimed that he was being “cyber stalked.” The man suffers from mental health issues and has made similar complaints in the past. Tpr. Greg Burns investigated an attended death in T14. The investigation disclosed that a woman, age 104, died of natural causes. Tpr. Greg Burns received a criminal mischief complaint from T19. The caller reported that he had received a letter from Eastern Maine Electric Company advising that the utility pole on his property had been damaged. The meter box appeared to have been shot. There has been a history of vandalism on this property. The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police at 1-800-432-7381 and leave a message for Tpr. Burns. Tpr. David Barnard stopped a vehicle in Franklin with a male passenger who had a warrant, and the male fled into the woods. With the help of Sgt. Alden Bustard, Tpr. Cliff Peterson and Marine Patrol Officers Macdonald and Ingram, David Hudson, 09-20-84, of Franklin was located and arrested. Tpr. Dan Ryan responded to Stonington for a report of an 8-year-old girl out of control and assaulting her mother. Tpr. Ryan explained the amount of discipline allowed in the State of Maine. Crisis Intervention was also contacted. Tpr. Andy Foss responded to a burglary in Crawford where about $800 dollars worth of coins were stolen from a residence. Evidence was collected. Investigation continues. Tpr. Andy Foss responded to a couple of camp breaks in Perry where damage was done and items were stolen. Evidence was collected. Investigation continues. Tpr. Jason Fowler arrested Harry Cline, 09/26/55, in Lubec for operating under the Influence of drugs. 10-27-09 Tpr. David Barnard stopped a vehicle on Route 200 in Franklin and the operator, John Davis, 03-30-76, of Franklin, was summonsed for operating after suspension. Tpr. Christopher Smith investigated an abandoned vehicle complaint on Poplar Lane in Hancock. Tpr. Smith located the owner and learned that the truck needs repair and will me moved. Tpr. Christopher Smith received a theft complaint from Cherryfield. The caller reported that a 100 lb propane tank was stolen from her camp on Patten Lane in Township 10. Tpr. Dan Ryan responded to Sedgwick for a family fight involving Travis Ruggiero, 09/03/88 and another male. Travis was arrested for criminal mischief for breaking a window with a hammer and a probation hold. Tpr. Dan Ryan handled an identity theft complaint in Sedgwick where a woman found that someone else was using her social security number to obtain satellite television. Investigation continues. Tpr. Dan Ryan assisted the ambulance in Blue Hill with a reported overdose where a woman was reported to have overdosed on medications. This was not found to be life-threatening. 10-28-09 Sgt. Jeff Ingemi, Tpr. Jessica Shorey and her K-9 Yosher assisted with a K-9 track in Newport in reference to the homicide investigation. Tpr. Dan Ryan handled a phone harassment complaint in Deer Isle where a man reported that a woman was harassing him. Hancock SO assisted and warned the woman for harassment. Tpr. Dan Ryan handled a theft complaint in Blue Hill where a woman reported that someone was stealing money from her bank account via the internet. Investigation continues. Tpr. Andy Foss assisted Southwest Harbor PD as an Evidence Response Team member by processing a vehicle and collecting evidence. Tpr. Jason Fowler handled a protection order violation complaint in East Machias where a woman reported that Courtney Crocker, 07/27/60, had direct contact with her. Crocker was located by Machias PD and arrested for violation of protection order and violation of conditional release. Tpr. David Barnard was helping Ellsworth PD investigate a stolen vehicle from Dedham that crashed on Route 1A in Ellsworth. Tpr. Barnard turned on a vehicle on Route 1A in Ellsworth and the operator refused to stop. The operator of the vehicle lost control and crashed on Route 180 in Ellsworth and ran into the woods. With the help of Ellsworth PD, Hancock SO and the Maine Warden Service the operator, Brent Lovely, (12-05-61) of Dedham was located and arrested. The vehicle he was in was the stolen from Larry's garage on Route 1A in Ellsworth. Lovely was charge with eluding an officer, driving to endanger, burglary, criminal speed and two stolen vehicles. Tpr. Christopher Smith responded to an abandoned 911 hang-up call in Jonesport and arrested Elizabeth Parker (09/08/79) on a warrant. Tpr. Christopher Smith received a theft of medication complaint from Jonesport. The caller reported that her brother took her prescription medication. The caller did not know how many pills were taken, however she still has the pill bottle. Investigation continues. Tpr. Christopher Smith assisted Game Warden’s Shannon Fish and Justin Fowlie with transporting and administering an intoxilyzer test to Erik Tozier (07/11/87) of Hancock. Tozier was arrested for OUI by the Game Wardens. Tpr. Kimberly Sawyer assisted Calais PD & CID with a stabbing that occurred on North St., Calais. 10-30-09 Tpr. Christopher Smith investigated a single vehicle crash, with personal injury, on Route 230 “Bayside” Road in Trenton. Alan Woodruff (03/02/36) of Trenton was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending. Tpr. Jessica Shorey and her K-9, Yosher, graduated from the K-9 Drug Certification Course. Tpr. Andy Foss arrested Jason Hawkins, 04/09/83, in East Machias for violation of conditional release after he refused to take a urine test for the presence of illegal drugs. Sgt. Ingemi assisted. 10-31-09 Tpr. Dan Ryan handled a theft complaint in Orland where Outback Towing reported a vehicle was removed from their lot possibly by the owner of the vehicle without paying for the tow charges. Richard Schamle, 02/09/55, was summonsed for theft of services. Tpr. Miles Carpenter assisted Machias PD with a fight at the Thirsty Moose where a man was refusing to leave. Tpr. Staci Carpenter received a telephone harassment complaint from a woman formerly of Cherryfield. Parker reported that she was receiving harassing calls and text messages from a woman of Milbridge. Tpr. Carpenter made contact with both parties who were warned not to have contact with each other. Tpr. Tom Pickering received a theft complaint from a man in Blue Hill. The man reported that four tires had been stolen from outside his residence. The tires had been for sale and were chained to a utility pole. Investigation continues. Tpr. Tom Pickering and Sgt. Alden Bustard responded to a single vehicle accident on the causeway in Deer Isle. The vehicle being operated by Mark Bartlett, 11-21-64, of Stonington, had traveled off the causeway and into the water. Bartlett escaped with minor injuries and was transported to the Blue Hill Hospital. Charges are pending. Tpr. Tom Pickering investigated a hit and run crash in Deer Isle. The investigation disclosed that Jason Larrabee, 01-23-85, of Stonington had crashed his Chevrolet Trailblazer in front of a residence on Main Street in Stonington. Larrabee then left the scene. Larrabee was later located and summonsed for operating after habitual offender revocation. 11-01-09 Sgt. Jeff Ingemi arrested Erica Wallace, 01/11/74, in Steuben for operating after suspension and violation of conditional release. Tpr. Miles Carpenter assisted the Down East Community Hospital by transporting a juvenile that had been involuntarily committed to a juvenile facility. Tpr. Jessica Shorey handled a theft complaint in Hancock where a wood-splitter was reported stolen. Investigation continues. Tpr. Jason Fowler assisted Washington SO with an operating under the influence case in Baring. Tpr. Tom Pickering responded to a domestic assault complaint at a residence in Stonington. The caller reported that Basil Ray, 05-20-60, had threatened to kill him with a baseball bat and had assaulted him. Basil Ray was placed under arrest for criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, violation of conditions of release and domestic assault. |
