Troop B Weekly Highlights October 19 through October 25, 200910/27/2009 TR. FILLEBROWN investigated a kidnapping incident which occurred on October 18 in Denmark. TR. FILLEBROWN obtained arrest warrants for four subjects including the following charges; • (3 counts) Kidnapping, Class A • (1 count) Agg. Assault • (2 counts) Criminal Threatening with a firearm • (2 counts) Terrorizing with a firearm • (2 counts) Assault. Trooper Pappas investigated a single vehicle, single occupant crash in Lebanon. During the investigation Trooper Pappas determined that the seventeen year old driver was under the influence of alcohol. A blood draw was conducted at Goodall Hospital. The driver was summonsed for OUI and operating without a license. Trooper Physic was on patrol on Route 4 in Livermore when he observed a vehicle traveling at 62 mph in a 50 mph zone. Trooper Physic initiated a traffic stop. Trooper Physic determined the operator had been drinking and conducted a battery of tests. Determined the operator had shown impairment and arrested him for OUI. The driver took and intoxilizer test which resulted in a BAC of .18%. Trooper Hanson charged a 19 year old male with OAS for failing to pay fine for a previous illegal transportation of alcohol charge. He was also charged with illegal transportation of alcohol again after Trooper Hanson discovered alcohol in the vehicle. Tr. Smith conducted a traffic stop in Naples after an inquiry found the registered owner to be suspended. The owner was in fact the operator and he was charged with OAS. Tpr Tilsley and Paradis responded to a self inflicted gun shot death in Albany. Tpr. Chavez received a late-reported domestic assault. The sixteen year-old victim from disclosed that his father hit him in the jaw and ribs during a ride home from work. Tpr. Chavez was unable to locate the father and Tpr. Huckins was provided with case info. Later in his minimum shift, Tpr. Huckins apprehended the father. Trooper Farley using his mobile data terminal ran a routine registration check. The check revealed the plate of the vehicle belonged on a white sedan, The vehicle Trooper Farley observed was a black pickup. Trooper Farley stopped the vehicle. The operator informed Trooper Farley he did not have a license and the plates did not belong on the vehicle. Trooper Farley arrested the operator. He was charged with Attaching False plates, Operating without a License and Possession of a Useable Amount of Marijuana Trooper Hanson was traveling south on Center St. in Auburn when he observed two male subjects walking through the parking lot of Cumberland Farms at 0445hrs. Hanson made note of the two subjects and their description. A short time later he heard a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Cumberland Farms. Hanson responded to assist Auburn. One of the suspects was detained near the scene and was identified by Hanson as one of the two subjects he had seen just minutes before walking through the parking lot. The subject detained was not the primary robber but had been with the robber and appears to have played a role in the crime. Auburn PD is still investigating the case. TR. FILLEBROWN stopped a vehicle on Route 117 in Bridgton for erratic operation. Upon investigation, the vehicle was found to have an illegally attached plate, and the driver to be on bail conditions. A search of the vehicle revealed two hypodermic needles and a spoon stuffed in the driver’s seat. The passenger was also found to have drug paraphernalia on him. The male had a large amount of cash on him and was believed to be in route to buy pills. The operator was summonsed for improper plates, drug paraphernalia, and violation of bail conditions, and the passenger with Drug Paraphernalia. Trooper Pappas arrested two subjects in Turner for outstanding warrants. Both were for failure to pay fines for misdemeanors. Trooper Pappas arrested a passenger in a vehicle for carrying a concealed weapon (switchblade) after searching him because he had swallowed an unidentified pill during the traffic stop. Trooper Pappas arrested a number of individuals for bail violations in separate incidents/contacts. Trooper Cote spent the week at MCJA instructing the 17th B.L.E.T.P. on O.U.I. enforcement. |
