Troop E Highlights 9-21-09 to 9-28-0909/21/2009 Tr.’s Stedman and Grant responded to Monson for a report of a 50 year old male w/mental health issues that was harming himself by banging his head on a door frame. Prior to the troopers arrival he locked himself in an upstairs bedroom refusing to come out. When he finally emerged from the bedroom he came out wielding a crowbar. The crowbar was taken away from him and he was transported to EMMC for a mental health evaluation. Troop E assisted Troop C with windmill escorts through Bangor, 6 days this week. It appears the parachute that was discovered in Northern Penobscot County last week may have come from the ill-fated flight of a C-45 Beech-Expeditor aircraft that crashed in that area on a return trip to Loring AFB from the ANG base at Logan Airport in Boston in 1956. The parachute was probably 1 of 5 of the 7 parachutes on board that were among other items that were thrown overboard in an attempt to lighten the load in the aircraft when it lost 1 of 2 engines. The aircraft ultimately crashed attempting to make it to the Millinocket Airport. The pilot died in the crash but the co-pilot survived. The Air Force sent Tr. Anderson their incident report that was generated at the time of the crash. The Air Force will be retrieving the parachute for display in a museum. Tr. Vittum arrested a male subject for domestic assault and criminal mischief in Milford after the male’s ex-wife complained that he had assaulted her after coming home drunk. She had been allowing him to stay w/her until he found a place to stay. Tr. Franklin responded to Corinna for a report from a female that her mother was at her grandmother’s residence, they could see the grandmother on the couch, apparently unresponsive. The mother felt the grandmother might be deceased and did not want to enter the residence, and the door was locked. Upon entry, they discovered the grandmother to be deceased; however no foul play is suspected. The death appears to be from natural causes. Tr. White responded to Bradford for a report of a personal injury motor vehicle crash w/1 entrapment and 5 others injured. Investigation revealed one vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of the East Road and Rte 221. After colliding, both vehicles spun off the road onto the same lawn of a residence there, with one the vehicles rolling onto its roof. Three of the injured went to EMMC via ambulance, and 2 went via personal vehicle. None of those injured sustained life threatening injuries. |
