Major Crimes Unit - South Weekly Highlights2/25/2013 Det. Edstrom and Det. Kennedy are continuing the investigation into the shooting of Richard Potorski in his Lebanon home. Det. Pike and Det. Ross conducted pretrial work reference the Michael Swenson homicide trial. Swenson is charged with the murder of Roger White in Old Orchard Beach. Det. Ross is conducting a Trooper background investigation. Det. Ross assisted the FBI with possible planned parental child abduction in Portland. Det. Ross guarded the victim at the Portland Jetport until she was able to board a plane to India. Several Detectives were called to testify at the Mark Strong prostitution trial. All Detectives attended ROADS training in Gray. Detective Leighton arrested STEPHEN HEATH (DOB 7/19/56) of 419 Roxbury Road in Roxbury on an arrest warrant for Criminal Restraint. On February 22nd, the Skowhegan Police Department received a call f4rom a woman indicating that her 18 year old daughter texted to inform her that HEATH was holding her against will at his residence in Roxbury. It was also reported that the daughter was allegedly being sexually assaulted by HEATH. Oxford County Deputies located STEPHEN HEATH and the girl at HEATH'S Roxbury residence. HEATH was detained by Oxford SO and the State Police until Detectives from MCU-S arrived. Detective Kennedy, Detective Farley and Trooper Wing assisted Detective Leighton during the investigation. The investigation is still on-going and further charges may be pending. Detective's Leighton, James, Edstrom and Sergeant Holmquist testified in the MARK STRONG trial in Alfred. Detective Leighton completed his ERT proficiency test at the Crime Lab. Detective Chavez received a call from a contact who believed her aunt’s sudden death in Paris recently was suspicious. Detective Chavez reviewed the Paris PD case file and no suspicious conditions could be found. It was determined that the victim was 71 years of age and had died from terminal lung cancer. Detective Chavez and Detective Keaten met at the Auburn PD as part of the Children’s Advocacy Center’s multi-disciplinary team. The groups broke out into committee to work on a business plan to submit to CMMC for a tentative partnership and resource sharing. Detective Chavez assisted with the forensic interview of a six-year old that reported that her cousin sexually assaulted her in Hartford a month ago. Detective Keaten and Sergeant Holmquist met with AAG Nomani to discuss the KIM MOREAU cold case. Detective Keaten conducted follow up on a DHHS referral in Eustis. Detective Farley conducted follow-up on a DHHS referral in Livermore. Several detectives attended ROADS training in Gray. Polygraph Weekly: Detective James testified in the MARK STRONG trial in Alfred. Detective James conducted a pre-employment polygraph on a State Police applicant. Det. King attended Crisis Negotiation Team training at the academy and worked on reports the remainder of the week. Sup. Ferland completed a polygraph speaking engagement for Probation and Parole. |
