Major Crimes Unit - South Weekly Highlights

Det. Edstrom and Det. Kennedy are continuing the investigation into the shooting of Richard Potorski in his Lebanon home.

Det. Pike and Det. Ross met with AAG Marchese to begin preparing for the Michael Swenson homicide trial. Swenson is charged with the murder of Roger White in Old Orchard Beach.

Det. Ross is conducting a Trooper background investigation.

Det. Kennedy is investigating a possible fraud case involving the Dept. of Labor.

Detectives Farley, Ross, Bolton and Sergeant Holmquist assisted Norwich, CT PD, FBI and Auburn PD in locating YAHQUIN WARREN, age 4, after he had been abducted by his non-custodial parent, KEYETT MCDONALD, age 35 of Norwich, CT. Norwich PD contacted the State Police and FBI when they received information that WARREN and MCDONALD were in the Auburn area. WARREN and MCDONALD were both located at a relative’s residence on Court Street in Auburn. MCDONALD was arrested on a Connecticut warrant for Kidnapping and was also charged with Fugitive From Justice in Maine. WARREN was turned over to DHHS custody until his guardians could bring him back to Connecticut.
Detective Farley participated in the honor guard during the funeral of Major Greg Sanborn of the Warden’s Service at MCJA. Detective Chavez assisted Troop B with an unattended death of a 41 year-old male in Turner. The autopsy results revealed that the individual most likely died of a drug overdose. The toxicology results are pending.

Detective Chavez and Detective Keaten met in committee with the Androscoggin CAC. Detective Chavez will chair a subcommittee as part of a working group to obtain national accreditation for the CAC.

Detective Leighton continues to investigate a GSA in Hiram.

Detective Leighton conducted trial preparation on the TRASK murder case, where he will be testifying about the bloodstain-pattern analysis conducted during the case.

Detective Leighton conducted ERT proficiency review from February’s training.

Detective Hainey conducted follow-up on the LOZADA homicide.

Detective Hainey assisted probation officer Wayne Sturdivant with one of his clients who is a former police officer.
