Major Crimes Unit - South Weekly Highlights1/21/2013 Det. Edstrom assisted Somersworth, NH Police Dept. with the arrest of Ronald Bauer and Susan Gutierrez. Both subjects were wanted in Maine for the shooting of Richard Potorski in his Lebanon home. Bauer was also wanted in Fall River Massachusetts for an armed robbery and for a probation violation in New Hampshire. Potorski is currently in critical condition at MMC. Det. Kennedy is conducting a Trooper background investigation in Standish. Det. Kennedy is assisting Troop A with a fifteen year old runaway who has been missing for over a week. Several Detectives testified in the Joel Hayden homicide trial which came to a close last week. Hayden was found guilty for the murders of his girlfriend Rene Sandora and his best friend Trevor Mills. Detectives Farley and Keaten conducted a further search of a residence in Porter where it is believed ROGER DAY may be buried. DAY has been missing since 1973. They were assisted by an UMF Geology Professor who used a ground penetrating radar unit to survey the basement floor of the residence. The radar unit showed another abnormality in the basement floor. A second dig of the basement will be scheduled in the coming days. Detective Hainey is conducting follow-up in preparation for the TAREEK HENDRICK murder trial scheduled for this spring. MCU-S detectives attended webinar training on Facebook Awareness. Det. Chavez assisted Livermore Falls PD with a forensic interview at the CAC in Lewiston. The case is still under investigation and involves a 17 year old victim. Detective Leighton held Senior ERT meeting at the Crime Lab to conduct a review and revision of ERT procedure's manual. Detective Leighton completed annual Bloodstain Pattern Analysis Proficiency Testing. Detective Leighton conducted ERT administration and planning for future training. Polygraph Weekly: Detective James performed a pre-employment polygraph on a State Police Applicant. Detective James performed a polygraph on a case for Computer crimes where the subject confessed to several offenses against children. Detective James attended the Senior ERT meeting in Augusta. Det. King monitored a polygraph that Det. James conducted for the Computer Crimes Task Force on a subject. the subject had tested the previous week with Det. King who had to be re-tested. Det. King worked on the Pamela Webb homicide and on administrative reports for her polygraph records in 2012. |
