Major Crimes Unit South Weekly Highlights 01/07/20131/7/2013 Det. Chavez continued to investigate the CALLAHAN shooting case in Minot. Det. Chavez, Det. James and Sgt. Holmquist met with AG investigators to review the case. Det. Chavez assisted Det. Ross with pre-trial work in the JOEL HAYDEN murder case. Detective Keaten investigated a child abuse case that occurred in Avon, Maine over the summer of 2012. The victim began talking about being sexually molested by his aunt while she babysat them last summer. The child also disclosed that the aunt molested his sister as well. Forensic interviews are scheduled this week for the two victims. Detective Keaten responded to a Tactical Team call-out in Mexico. Detective Keaten continues to follow-up on the BUTCH WEED cold case. Detective Farley assisted Detective Pike with the Biddeford homicide investigation. Detective Farley responded to a Crisis Negotiation Team call-out in Mexico. Det. Pike continued the investigation into the homicides of Alivia Welch and Derrick Thompson who were killed by James Pak in their Biddeford apartment. Det. Edstrom was called to a suspicious death in Lebanon. York SO requested assistance from MCUS after they responded to the residence and initially thought it was a homicide. Investigation showed the case was a suicide. Det. Ross continued her pretrial work reference the Joel Hayden homicide trial. Appeals were heard on Thursday and a Jury was selected on Friday. Opening statements will commence on Monday morning. The trial is scheduled for two weeks. Det. Kennedy is continuing the investigation into the criminal threatening case in Old Orchard Beach. One of the persons involved has recently been placed on administrative leave by the Town Manager. Polygraph Weekly: Det. James completed documenting the Biddeford homicide evidence. Det. James attended a meeting with AG investigators on the Minot shooting case. Det. King conducted a pre-employment exam for Marine Patrol, attended a meeting for the Maine Polygraph Association. Sup. Ferland conducted two forensic exams on two separate GSA cases for MCUN Detectives STROUT and JACQUES. Both suspects passed and were cleared from the investigations. Sup. Ferland as well attended a Maine Polygraph Association meeting with Det. King. |
