Weekly Highlights-Media Version1/22/2012 This week Troop J responded to 145 calls for service. The following are noteworthy complaints: 01-14-13 Trooper Daniel Ryan and Trooper Michael Southard responded to a fight complaint in Blue Hill where Patrick Beal (32) was arrested for assault and for having an active warrant for his arrest. Trooper Andrew Foss handled a phone harassment complaint in Marshfield. This was found to be over a child custody dispute and both parties were warned for harassment. Trooper Staci Carpenter summonsed Derrick Robinson-Tarr, (26) of Machias, for Operating After Suspension as the result of a traffic stop in Columbia. Trooper Cliff Peterson received a theft complaint from in Sedgwick. It was reported that a Genrac 14kw generator had been taken from a residence that is being renovated. The investigation continues. 01-15-13 Trooper Daniel Ryan responded to Blue Hill for a complaint that power was shut off to a residence. Trooper Ryan located the suspect who admitted to this and turned the power back on. No damage was done and a trespass warning was given. Trooper Andrew Foss responded to a theft complaint in Whiting where a beverage was reported to have been stolen from a local store. He located the suspect, which later paid for the drink and was warned not to return to the Whiting Store. Trooper Andrew Foss arrested Jessica Seeley (29) in Lubec for having an active warrant for her arrest and operating after suspension. Trooper David Barnard arrested Kean Ripley, (31) of Searsport for Eluding an Officer after he led Trooper Barnard on a high speed chase on Route 179 in Waltham. Trooper Barnard attempted to stop Ripley for speeding. Ripley refused to stop and continued driving at a high rate of speed heading south. Ripley lost control at the intersection of Route 180 in Ellsworth and rolled the car over. He was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. He was also charged with OUI, OAS, Violation of Bail, Criminal Speeding, and Failure to give the Correct Name. Sergeant Tim Varney and Troopers York, Smith and Creamer also assisted. 01-16-13 Trooper Chad Lindsey responded to Robbinston for a citizen requesting assistance where warnings were given not to trespass on the property. Trooper Keith York arrested Michael Smith (22) for OUI after a reported rollover crash on Route 187 in Jonesport. 01-17-13 Trooper Greg Roy arrested Christopher Webber, (36) of Lamoine, for Operating After Habitual Offender Revocation Class C as the result of a traffic stop in Dedham. Trooper Keith York issued Victoria Preble, (26) of Sullivan, a summons for theft after she shoplifted a bottle of coffee brandy from the Bayside Market in Milbridge. Trooper Kim Sawyer arrested James Caron, (57) of Danforth, at his residence in Danforth on an outstanding warrant, (from 1981). 01-18-13 Trooper Jason Fowler and Recruit Jeff Taylor received a criminal trespassing complaint in Marshfield. It was reported that someone had been in the rental property which is currently vacant. The investigation disclosed that a former tenant, Marcus Frutchey (26) of Whitneyville, had entered the residence without permission after being warned not to. Frutchey was arrested for Criminal Trespassing and Violation of Conditions of Release. Trooper Chris Smith responded and investigated a fatal motor vehicle crash on Route 182 (Blackwoods Road) in Franklin. The driver was identified as 23 year old Brennon Potter from Franklin and Deer Isle. Potter was driving a 1969 Ford Bronco and traveling east when he crossed the centerline and crashed into a guardrail and then down over an embankment and into several trees. Potter was not wearing a seatbelt and no other contributing factors have been identified at this time. The Ford Bronco was a total loss as a result of the crash. Sergeant Timothy Varney, Trooper’s David Barnard, Bryan Creamer, and Keith York assisted with the investigation along with assistance to from the Franklin Fire Department. 01-19-13 Trooper Greg Roy arrested Preston Carney, (24) of Hancock, for Operating Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor as the result of a traffic stop in Hancock. Carney was combative during the stop and had to be restrained with leg restraints. Carney was transported to the Hancock County jail where an intoxilyzer test was administered. Carney was also charged with Refusing to Submit to Arrest and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle. Trooper Cliff Peterson and Trooper Greg Roy responded to a domestic dispute in Sullivan. The dispute was verbal in nature and the parties were separated for the night. 01-20-13 Trooper Daniel Ryan and Trooper Michael Southard responded to Sedgwick for a 911 hang up where a woman reported a problem with her daughter. This was a family fight involving a mother and daughter and was verbal only in nature. No crimes were committed. Trooper Miles Carpenter handled a lost property complaint in Milbridge where a purse was reported missing. It was located a short time later. Trooper Chad Lindsey responded to Princeton for a report of an intoxicated ATV operator which had also damaged a laptop computer at a residence. He located the ATV and summonsed Glenn Chapman (48) for operating under the influence, operating after suspension and criminal mischief. Trooper Chad Lindsey arrested Timothy Marden (52) for operating under the influence of alcohol, theft of a motor vehicle and assault in Princeton after coming across him while doing follow-up on a previous investigation. He was also summonsed for failure to provide name and date of birth. Trooper Andrew Foss and Indian Township Police Department assisted. Trooper Greg Roy received a theft complaint in Lamoine. Two 16’x12” aluminum staging planks had been taken from a residence under construction. Investigation continues. |
