Weekly Highlights - Media Version1/14/2012 WEEKLY REPORT MAJOR CRIMES UNIT - NORTH January 7, 2013 to January 13, 2013 I. Items of interest to Local Media: Det. Jacques worked on open cases and completed case reports for an Unlawful Sexual Contact (USC) in Farmington, USC in Saint Albans and a Suspicious Death in New Harbor. Det. Bryant presented taphonomy study results with Dr. Sorg to a grant review panel. This was an end of grant study relating to her 4 year long Department of Justice grant on body decomposition and predation. Det. Bryant worked on closing out open cases and follow up with several DA’s Offices. Det. Andrews continued to work on reports from cases he investigated while preparing for the Robert Nelson trial. Det. Crane presented a 2008 USC case against Keith Cochran to Grand Jury. Cochran was indicted on two counts of Unlawful Sexual Contact. Det. Crane continued to complete work on the Sec. 6 evidence locker project. Det. Sperrey began investigating a sex case that was referred to MCU by the DA’s office that involves several jurisdictions. Det. Sperrey responded to a tactical team call in Staceyville. Det. Sperrey worked on several reports. Det. Brockway participated in a lockdown drill at the Winslow Elementary School. Det. Chabot worked on the Gary Raub investigation. Gary’s transport back to Maine has begun, and he could arrive any time after next week. Det. King conducted two pre-employment polygraphs for DPS and Marine Patrol. She also conducted a forensic test for the Computer Crimes Task Force. Detectives Josh Birmingham and Chris Tupper conducted interviews and followed leads on the Ayla Reynolds case. Detective Josh Birmingham assisted Detective Chris Tremblay with a report of child sexual abuse in Clinton. The case involves a suspect from out of state and the use of a laptop computer. Detective Pelletier was assigned a DHHS referral in Old Town. Through investigation it was learned that an 11 year old boy disclosed that he was abused on two separate occasions by two different people in South Portland and Wellfleet, MA. The report will be turned over to South Portland and Wellfleet P.D.’s. Detective Pelletier was assigned a DHHS referral regarding sexual abuse of a 14 year old girl in the Penobscot County area. Investigation revealed that the sexual abuse occurred in Presque Isle. The report will be sent to Presque Isle PD. Det. Pelletier completed an investigation into a report that a 21 year old female was sexually assaulted while at a party in Levant. The report will be submitted to the D.A’s office for review. Det. Fiske completed Trask reports and worked on preparing the third batch of discovery for the AG’s office. Det. Fiske received 3 new child abuse/DHHS referrals. Det. Peary received an applicant background investigation. Det. Peary assisted Santa Barbara SO, CA with an investigation in Kenduskeag. Det. Peary worked on getting discovery to the DA on the Milford Aggravated Assault and an active GSA investigation. Det. Mitchell worked on an Orland case related to a 17 year old female having sex with a 33 year old male at a party. Det. Mitchell worked on a child abuse case that occurred in Clifton. Det. Mitchell worked on reports related to the Alton murder case. |
