This week Troop J responded to 142 calls for service. The following are noteworthy complaints:
Trooper Keith York summonsed Benjamin Follette for criminal mischief. After a disagreement with an employee at the Harrington Irving about pre-paid gas, Benjamin walked out of the store and punched the gas pump screen, disabling the gas pump.
Sergeant Jeffrey Ingemi responded to a burglary complaint in Jonesboro where a residence was reported to have been entered. This was found to be civil in nature.
Trooper Chad Lindsey arrested Whitney Gossett (23) in Calais for operating after suspension.
Trooper Greg Roy investigated an assault complaint in Penobscot. It was reported that a man was assaulted during a confrontation over road maintenance by Chris Gonyer, (46). As a result of the investigation Chris was summonsed for Assault.
Trooper Greg Roy received a theft complaint in Castine. It was reported that lumber was stolen from underneath a seasonal cabin. Investigation continues.
Trooper Michael Southard responded to a shoplifting complaint in Orland where cigarettes were reported stolen. He located and arrested the suspect, Michael Darragh (40), for having an active warrant for his arrest. He was also summonsed for theft and violation of conditional release.
Trooper Michael Southard handled a theft complaint in Dedham where a rental company was reporting the theft of a television and furniture that was rented. Investigation continues.
Trooper Daniel Ryan handled a criminal mischief complaint in Deer Isle where a mailbox was reported damaged. Investigation continues.
Trooper Chad Lindsey arrested Jerald Hiland (33) in Crawford for operating after suspension and violation of conditional release. The Maine Warden Service assisted with the traffic stop.
Trooper Chad Lindsey responded to a theft complaint in Robbinston where money was reported stolen from a purse. Investigation continues.
Trooper Daniel Ryan arrested Philip Seavey (56) in Gouldsboro for operating under the influence of alcohol, violation of conditional release and criminal speed. Trooper Cliff Peterson assisted.
Trooper Cliff Peterson received a report of an injured raccoon in the roadway in Sorrento. The complainant requested the raccoon be taken to a veterinarian to be rehabilitated. The warden service contacted the complainant as Trooper Peterson was not in the area. When the complainant learned that the raccoon would have to be euthanized and tested for rabies, she put the raccoon in her vehicle and fled from the area. The complainant refused to tell the warden service where she was. Neither the complainant nor the raccoon has been heard from since.
Trooper Cliff Peterson received a report of two males dressed in black hooded sweatshirts walking in Blue Hill and one of them appeared to be trying to conceal a handgun. The area was checked thoroughly, but the males were not located. Trooper Peterson was assisted by Marine Patrol Officer Rustin Ames, who arrived in the area shortly after the call came in.
Trooper Michael Southard assisted Ellsworth Police Department with a high speed chase by locating the vehicle in Hancock and arresting the operator, Gardiner Crabtree (65) for violation of conditional release. Ellsworth Police Department charged Gardiner with several other crimes to include eluding, driving to endanger, criminal speed failure to stop and operating under the influence of alcohol.
