Major Crimes Unit South Weekly Highlights 07/16/2012

Det. Keaten is investigating a DHS referral in Freeman. A subject was detained by Homeland Security who found several images of child pornography on his laptop. The subject is living with a couple in Freeman who have three small children. Det. Keaten is trying to determine if the children have been exploited.

Det. Keaten attended two days of Tactical Team training.

Det. Keaten is working with the Franklin County Sheriffs Office reference the Tranton Store robbery in Kingfield.

Det. Keaten conducted the transport and interview of Charles Fontenot after his capture by the Marshalls Service. Fontenot was the focus of a nationwide manhunt after he fled Maine with a fifteen year old female.

Det. Pike and Sgt. Harriman assisted Fryeburg PD with a suspicious death. An individual was found deceased behind the town library on Saturday. Fryeburg Officers thought that individual may have been assaulted. Investigation showed that he died of natural causes.

Det. Hainey and James interviewed Tareek Hendricks in Syracuse NY. Hendricks was arrested on a homicide warrant by US Marshalls last week. Hendricks will be transported back to Maine this week.

Det. Pike, Chavez and Sgt. Harriman assisted Mechanic Falls PD with an elevated aggravated assault. Cousins Corey Hamel and Chad Chandler spent Thursday night drinking at a local bar. When they returned home they got into an argument. During the argument both individuals slashed each other with a utility knife. Both were transported to CMMC. Androscoggin DA Office will decide what charges are going to be filed.

Sgt. Harriman attended two days of Bomb Team training.

Polygraph Weekly:

Det. King conducted two pre-employment exams for the Marine Patrol, had one forensic test cancellation, and attended a webinar on cell phone searches.

Sup. Ferland conducted a pre-employment polygraph examination. He assisted MCUN with a cognitive interview and a crime scene re-enactment with the Star Vining murder investigation. He conducted a forensic examination for the Warden Service on a suspect of a false report.
