Weekly Highlights-Media Version

This week Troop J responded to 200 calls for service. The following are noteworthy complaints:

6-11-12

Sergeant Jeffrey Ingemi arrested Michele Ray (46) in Machias on a probation hold after she was found to be in possession of alcohol. Trooper Andrew Foss assisted.

Trooper Chad Lindsey summonsed Michael Testroete (51) and Robert Morse (54) both of Nova Scotia for criminal speed in Wesley.

Trooper Chad Lindsey responded to a burglary complaint in Danforth at a storage unit. Several items were reported stolen. Investigation continues.

Trooper Dan Ryan responded to Deer Isle. The Complainant reported that an intoxicated man ran over their mailbox and repeatedly came to their residence.

6-13-12

Trooper Southard received a Missing Persons Complaint in Franklin. Later, both parties were located at an undisclosed location.

Trooper Dan Ryan responded to a trespassing and harassment complaint.

Trooper Andy Foss summonsed David Foster (25) for operating an unregistered vehicle.

Trooper Andy Foss responded to a serious crash with injury in East Machias where the operator of the offending vehicle had fled into the woods. The two vehicles had almost hit head on. A passenger from the other vehicle was transported to Down East Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The subject, who fled, Justin Landeen (27), was located at a nearby residence. Landeen was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash, OUI and violating his bail conditions. Trooper Chad Lindsey, Trooper Miles Carpenter assisted as well as Lieutenant Travis Willey and Sergeant Tabbutt of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and Warden Alan Curtis of the Maine Warden Service.

Trooper Reid Bond arrested Corey Hodgkins (20) of Northeast Harbor for operating under the influence of drugs, as a result of a traffic stop on Rt-1 in Cherryfield. Trooper Reid Bond was assisted by Trooper Jason Fowler who conducted a DRE evaluation.

Trooper Southard responded to a fight in Amherst. The incident was found to be verbal in nature and no crime was committed. One of the parties agreed to leave for the day until things cooled down.

6-15-12

Trooper Chad Lindsey stopped a vehicle in Robbinston for no inspection sticker. The driver, Derek Morrison (33) was summonsed for OAS. The passenger, Brittany Polk (26) was arrested on an active warrant for Failure to Appear in a Criminal Mischief case. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver. Trooper Jason Fowler assisted.

Trooper Reid Bond responded to criminal mischief complaint in Columbia. A broken window was discovered on the front door of a building. Investigation continues on this case.

Trooper Reid Bond handled a delayed report of an assault that occurred in Centerville Township. Investigation continues on this case.

Trooper Reid Bond responded to a harassment complaint at the Four Corners Shop N’ Save in Columbia. An employee stated that while at work a lady approached her and began to threaten her, stating that she would meet her in the parking lot after work. The harassing party was located and issued a criminal threatening and harassment warning. In addition, she was also issued a harassment notice, preventing her from having any contact with the employee.

Trooper Reid Bond handled an informational complaint in Cherryfield. The person reported that they witnessed a vehicle traveling North on Rt-193 in Cherryfield collide with another vehicle that was attempting to pull into the parking area of a store. They stated there was reportable damage to both vehicles. Neither party involved reported this crash or stayed at the scene. Investigation continues on this case.

Trooper Roy received a theft report in Trenton. The party reported that while the daughter was using the ATV in Hancock, someone stole the metal ramps used to drive the ATV into the bed of the pickup truck. Investigation continues.

Trooper Roy received a theft report in Trenton. They reported sometime in the last two weeks two green, LL Bean, heavy duty plastic, rocking chairs were stolen from his porch. Investigation continues.

Trooper Roy discovered a 40 person drinking party on a dirt back road in Surry. Several people ran into the woods upon his arrival. Sober rides were arranged for all who were leaving. The rest camped in the woods for the evening.

Trooper’s Cliff Peterson and Greg Roy responded to Route 9 in Amherst, just east of the Amherst General Store, for a report of a serious two vehicle head-on crash. The two vehicles collided nearly head on near the eastbound fog line. The accident is being reconstructed by Officer Chad Wilmot of the Ellsworth Police Department and is being forensically mapped by Warden Investigator Kevin Anderson.

Trooper Cliff Peterson responded to a property dispute in Hancock. The parties were in the process of breaking up and were arguing over ownership of a Rottweiler puppy. It was explained that the dispute was civil in nature and that if they believed they were the rightful owner of the puppy, they would have to settle the matter in small claims court.

6-17-12

Trooper Dan Ryan covered a theft complaint in Blue Hill. The complainant had the windshield wipers stolen sometime Friday night while they were at work. Investigation continues.

Trooper Dan Ryan arrested Cody Grimmel (19) for failing to stop and OUI. Trooper Ryan turned on Cody for speeding. Grimmel initially failed to stop but was apprehended by Trooper Ryan shortly after the chase started.

Trooper Chad Lindsey responded to a criminal mischief complaint in East Machias. It was reported that someone had keyed the vehicle. Investigation continues.
