AUGUSTA, Maine – Maine Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) Chairman Sharon Reishus announced today that Evelyn deFrees has joined the MPUC as Public Information Officer. “We are pleased that Evelyn deFrees has joined the MPUC,” said Chairman Reishus, ”Informative and timely communication with ratepayers, consumers, stakeholders, the general public, and policy makers is an important part of the Commission’s work. Evelyn’s experience in public policy and communications is a great asset to the MPUC, and we welcome her enthusiasm and energy.”
Until this month, deFrees ran a consulting practice for eight years focused on providing strategic advocacy, communication, outreach and organizational management services to organizations at the state and federal level. deFrees, a Rumford native, was Legislative and Outreach Director for a decade at the Natural Resources Council of Maine, held several management posts at Penguin Books in New York City, and graduated from Brown University.
