MPUC Issues RFPs for Electricity Standard Offer Service—including Residential & Small CommercialOctober 20, 2011 Augusta, ME - Today, the Maine Public Utilities Commission issued a Request for Proposals (RFPs) for retail electricity standard offer service for residential and small commercial customers within the service area of Central Maine Power (CMP) and Bangor Hydro-Electric (BHE) for terms of up to three years in duration beginning March 1, 2012. Initial proposals are due to the Commission by November 16th, 2011. Regulated by the Commission, CMP and BHE are electric transmission and distribution utilities serving customers throughout Maine. Total electricity sales to these customer classes in 2010 were approximately 4.7 million megawatt hours (MWh), of which about 95% is provided by standard offer service.
