Free Wireless Access

By Ellen Wood, Maine State Library

Are you traveling throughout Maine this summer? Do you need to connect with your family, friends or office while away? Read the latest news online? Research books, magazines, and online resources? Do you have your own laptop computer?

Visit any of over 200 Maine public libraries and use their fast Internet connection with your own wireless-enabled laptop computer. Access is free at wifi-enabled libraries. Anyone with a laptop (or other wireless device) equipped with a wireless card and an Internet browser can log-on to a wireless network at one of these Maine libraries with wireless access. Find their hours, phone numbers, and locations with a map link and a photo of each library.

Benefits:

  • Enjoy flexible access though wireless technology
  • Free and fast Internet connections
  • Find many other services at libraries

These libraries may have Internet Policy Agreement and Conditions of Use. View Maine State Library's Frequently asked Questions as an example.
