March 3rd article: Adventure on Deboullie Mountain  Radio operations rescue the Can-Am races.

Comments:

I was a volunteer at the Can-Am race, working radio operations at the remote Maibec checkpoint.  As Saturday progressed, the Fort Kent HAM radio repeater became less reliable.  For the first time, we had satellite Internet access at Maibec.  Instant messaging became our means of communications for routine information.  We used the 159.345 frequency from the Deboullie repeater for all other communication.

Everyone was describing the “miracle” of getting the Forest Service repeater back online!

Great story!

March 3rd article: Mobile.maine.gov Recognized  Ten fold increase since 2006.

Comment:

Besides Maine Gov's mobile website other agencies have mobile sites, like Maine State Library. http://www.maine.gov/msl/mobile

Check out last April's article on us:

http://www.researchbuzz.org/wp/2008/04/maine-state-library-goes-mobile

The State Library no longer lists the latest audio tapes (as mentioned in the article above) because they are cataloged in a different way but I may highlight the top ten favorites in the future.

I think the other library mobile links are very helpful: Find the hours open fast, automatically call “Ask a Librarian” for quick information, or find all the libraries with wireless access.
