Announcing the 9th Annual Maine Digital Government Summit

Mark your calendar for October 11th, 2011 (10/11/11) and plan to attend Maine’s ninth annual Digital Government Summit at the Augusta Civic Center. Everyone is welcome to attend; town, city, county and state government techies are especially encouraged to participate.

The summit agenda is stacked with timely technical topics such as unified communications, mobile technologies, managing social media, enterprise data sharing, operating like a business, expanding digital uses in libraries, government trends, desktop and application virtualizing trends, cloud solutions, and succession planning.

In addition to the participation of some top name businesses in the industry, the event this year will be sparked with exciting and extraordinary guest speakers that include:

The Honorable Paul LePage, Governor, State of Maine; a man with a remarkable life story who continues to achieve and excel despite harsh challenges early in life, will open the day long event. Governor LePage is an accomplished and respected business leader in the private sector who is now making a difference in the public sector, first as a three-term mayor and now as the chief executive in Maine government;

Deb Neuman, a respected media personality, author, journalist, small business expert and current executive director of the Maine Office of Business Development in the Department of Economic and Community Development will deliver the luncheon keynote address; and,

Dan Thurmon, premiere speaker, author, and renowned expert in delivering peak performances will provide the opening keynote address using highly visual and creative means to demonstrate that "off balance" is how we learn, grow, excel and fully experience what is happening around us. It's tough out there right now. The question is: Are you thrown off balance in response to your world or are you off balance on purpose?

A slight departure from tradition is that the OIT MERIT awards for individual, manager, and team will be moved from the Digital Government Summit to a different venue; an OIT staff meeting to be held later in the fall of 2011.
