DOT Employee of the Month
By Elissa Marchetti, Director of Special Projects, Maine DOT
Recently, Joe Couture an OIT employee was named Employee of the Month at DOT for October 2006.
Working in the Application & GIS Support group is very challenging due to rapid changes in technology, customer needs, and work priorities. Joe has demonstrated time and time again that he can successfully handle these challenges, and his enthusiasm to take them on is infectious. He works hard at staying current with the new technologies to improve his value to the customers. He utilizes this knowledge to suggest areas of improvement for the IT infrastructure.
Joe has been the unit’s “go to guy” in many cases. He is a valued team member of the Application & GIS Support group and other developers often rely on his expertise to solve complex issues.
It requires someone with great patience, sharp skill, and good communication with customers and peers to be successful. Joe has an easy going style that makes him approachable and fosters collaboration among his peers. His timeliness in responding to his customers is much appreciated by them and he always follows up to make sure they are satisfied. In short, Joe is the kind of employee any manager would like to have.
