07. How do I get an extension to file?

An extension of up to two months beyond the May 31 filing deadline may be granted only in case of illness, disability, prolonged absence from home or other good cause. Submit an application along with a written request for extension, explaining the reason for the request, to Maine Revenue Services, Income/Estate Tax Division, PO Box 9116, Augusta, Maine 04332-9116 no later than the July 31 immediately following the close of the application period. No extensions may be granted beyond the July 31 following the close of the application period.
