04. Am I eligible for a property tax or rent refund under the general portion of the program?

To be eligible for the general portion of the program you must have been a resident of Maine for all of 2011, maintained a homestead in Maine for all of 2011 and lived in your homestead at least six months during 2011. Your total 2011 household income must have been not more than:

$64,950 for a person who lived alone; OR, $86,600 for a person who lived with a spouse and/or dependent(s); AND

Your 2011 property tax must have been more than 4% of your 2011 household income; OR, the rent you paid in 2011 must have been more than 20% of your 2011 household income.
