02. How do I register to get a tax number?

You will need to go to the Electronic Services page @ http://www.maine.gov/revenue/netfile/gateway2.htm

Once the page opens select Log on to the Tax Registration Service, it is near the bottom of the page under Service. If you are registering for sales/use tax, service provider tax or use tax only check the appropriate box/s. If you will have employees also select income tax withholding, then Click on GO. This will bring you to the application. You must fill in all fields that have an *(asterisk).
