Members present: D. Berry, P. Dionne, J. Napolitano, Allen Wyman, Bob Bourgault, Peaches Bass (ex facto), Shawn Lagasse (ex facto) Quorum NOT established
Others present: Gene Ellis, Dir. Of Apprenticeship Standards, Ginny Carroll, David Klein, Skip Hardt, Jill Houser, Region 1 Director, USDOL/ETA/OA
Meeting called to order at 9:00 by Chair D. Berry
Introductions:
Motion to accept Minutes of Oct., 2009 meeting: Bob, 2nd: Allen To be sent for e-mail vote
Director’s Report: Gene introduced Ginny Carroll as the new Director of Apprenticeship Standards effective as of Feb. 1, 2010. Gene’s new title is Director of Field Services. Gene gave preliminary report on the substance of the Annual Apprenticeship Report due to the Governor and Legislature by March 1st. The Apprenticeship Committee is down to eight members, two of whom never attend making a quorum nearly impossible. There are three Public and one Management seats to fill. Several individuals have had letters of interest forwarded by Commissioner Fortman to the Governor’s office for appointment as follows: o Jamie Carter of Pittston forwarded 11/20/2007 (for Management) o Andrew Fitzpatrick of Veazie forwarded 01/08/2008 (for Management) o Alan Reed of Gorham forwarded 01/08//2008 (for Management) o Anne Beebe-Center of Rockland forwarded 03/31/2008 (for Public) o Stacey Palmer of Union forwarded 03/31/2008 (for Public) o Joseph Champagne of Sidney forwarded 03/20/2009 (for Labor, no seat open) Due to the length of time involved it is unclear who, if any, may still be interested.
Skip Hardt gave presentation on the upcoming Eastern Seaboard Apprenticeship Committee (ESAC) meeting in Portland the week of May 24th, 2010 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay.
