Commissioner Schaefer lives in Grand Lake Stream with his wife Laura, a retired elementary school teacher. He owns and operates Maineline Studio, a statewide photography business that employs 4 full-time and 7 part-time people in Calais. Besides photography, outdoor interests include fishing, hunting, sea kayaking, skiing, rafting, and hiking. He holds a private pilot’s license and is a registered Maine Master Guide. Commissioner Schaefer is a current member of the Maine Professional Guides Association, the Maine Professional Photographers Association, and the Grand Lake Stream Guides Association. His extensive public service experience includes service on Governor King’s Land Appropriations Priority Committee and 10 years as the first assessor of Grand Lake Stream. Currently, he serves as the president of the Downeast Lakes Land Trust Board of Directors, and as the Vice President of the Sugarloaf Mountain Ski Club Board of Directors. Commissioner Schaefer joined the Land Use Regulation Commission in April 2006. |
