Foliage Season 2009

Hello visitors. My name is Patrick McGowan. I am the Commissioner of the Maine Department of Conservation. Welcome to the state of Maine and the 2009 fall foliage season. This is the 51st season of tracking foliage color by our Forest Service Rangers.

The extra moisture Maine received this season has produced a healthy crop of lush foliage - the starting point for a good foliage season. This year the Department of Conservation will host four guided hikes throughout the month of October in several of our state parks. More information can be found at this web site or at www.maine.gov/doc.

Whether it be a hike in one of our state parks, picking apples at an apple orchard, or taking a drive on one of our scenic byways, I encourage you and your family to get outside, have fun and enjoy all that Maine has to offer.

Be sure to sign up to receive weekly reports by e-mail on this web site where you can also submit your favorite fall foliage picture, or share you fall trip destination at the Foliage Forum.

Enjoy your visit and thanks again for visiting MaineFoliage.com.
