Reminder: Response to Intervention Readiness Survey

INFORMATIONAL LETTER:  99
POLICY CODE: IMI

TO:                  Superintendents of Schools
FROM:            Susan Gendron, Commissioner
DATE:             March 29, 2010
RE:                   Reminder: Response to Intervention Readiness Survey

The 18 regional meetings scheduled between December 14, 2009 and February 28, 2010 to provide information about Maine’s Response to Intervention (RTI) plan were well attended and the feedback was very positive.  Over 650 educators in teams from 180 schools attended.

During these regional meetings, trainers/facilitators that have been trained by the National Center for RTI provided information about RTI and familiarized school teams with the Maine School Readiness Profile.  This profile will serve two purposes:

  1. Provide baseline data for the Department of Education and educational partner organizations.
  2. Provide a tool for your school to direct and track your implementation of an RTI system.

To date, 56 schools have completed the Readiness Survey.  We would invite you to fill out the readiness survey by March 31, 2010 so that we may have more comprehensive baseline data for the State on schools’ readiness to provide an RTI system.  The survey can be filled out whether or not you attended a regional meeting.

The readiness profile can be found online at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=MtCQ6cgfghwRUasW7HpQTQ3d3d
