SUBJECT: Changes to Education Subsidies

Today, Governor John Baldacci released his proposed changes to the FY2010-11 state budget, including changes to education funding. His proposed changes include $20 million more for General Purpose Aid for Local Schools. Please note these changes are for the FY2010-11 year. No new changes are proposed in education funding for the current fiscal year, FY2009-10.

Revised state subsidy information for your unit(s) is now available on the Department of Education Essential Programs and Services website. These subsidy amounts for the FY2010-11 year do not represent final action of the 124th Legislature.

We anticipate mailing revised ED-279 subsidy printouts by early next week.
