The SFMS is an upgrade to the current Capital Asset Management (CAM) system hosted by VFA, Inc. and will assist school administrative units in managing their capital assets and planning capital reinvestments. The new SFMS includes a user-friendly reporting dashboard for quick access to facilities information as well as web-based questionnaires which allow SAUs to easily populate the system with their facilities data. It is expected that the new SFMS will be available by mid-August 2009. Use of the system will be required by all SAUs for reporting facilities inventory information to the State. All SAUs must designate a system administrator who will be trained and authorized to use the SFMS software. On-site training sessions will begin in late summer and will be located across the State. Additional web-based training will also be available. We look forward to working with you to implement the SFMS so that all Maine students can have safe and healthy learning environments. If you have questions about the new School Facilities Management System please contact Ann Pinnette at 624-6885 or ann.pinnette@maine.gov or Scott Brown at 624-6883 or scott.brown@maine.gov .
