Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey

INFORMATIONAL LETTER: 26
POLICY CODE: JLC

TO: Superintendents of Schools
FROM: Susan A. Gendron, Commissioner
DATE: October 8, 2008
RE: Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey

An informational letter was sent to you on August 6, 2008, announcing the creation of the Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey (MIYHS). Grades K, 3, 5 and 6 will be sample surveyed while all public schools with any grade 7-12 are invited and encouraged to participate in the survey.

The Maine Department of Education, in collaboration with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, has sent a recruitment letter to all principals in your school administrative unit to participate in the Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey. Please note that participation in this survey is required of units receiving Healthy Maine Partnership and/or school-based health center funding. Schools participating in the MIYHS can choose when they would like to administer the survey within the two-week timeframe of February 2-13, 2009.

Please encourage your principals to take part in this important project; by doing so, you contribute both to its success and usefulness.
