RE: 2008-09 Annual Gifted and Talented Program Application and the Gifted and Talented Arts Plan – Due November 30, 2008

Each school administrative unit must complete and submit electronically the 2008-2009 Gifted and Talented Application by November 30, 2008. The Gifted and Talented Application is a required part of your Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP). The application is available on the Department of Education website http://www.maine.gov/education/gt/index.html . The person responsible for the Gifted and Talented program and budget must complete the two application documents, the program narrative, and the Section VI Program Budget Form. To download a copy of the EF-S-206 “Section VI Gifted and Talented Program Budget Form”, click on the budget form then save the file before completing the form. You will need to do the same for the program narrative section. Please note that each school in a school administrative unit needs to complete the budget form, since separate budgets are necessary for subsidy calculations. Individuals are encouraged to work with their business administrator(s), to ensure their budget data are consistent with information in the MEDMS Financial System.

The annual application and budget pages must be submitted electronically to: Debbie.Violette@maine.gov by November 30, 2008. The document called “Guidelines For Completing The Application For Gifted And Talented Educational Program Approval And Approval Of Program Costs” is designed to help you complete the application process. Each school administrative unit must also complete a Gifted and Talented Plan for the arts. This is different from the application. The plan for the arts is available on the Department of Education Website http://www.maine.gov/education/gt/arts_plan.rtf .
The gifted and talented arts plan must also be submitted electronically by November 30, 2008.
