Home > Rules & Legislation > Letters from the Commissioner > Informational Letter 093 Maine’s Part C and Part B Applications for Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2008 Grant Awards under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) To Be Submitted On or Before May, 7, 2008 for Part C and May 16,2008 for Part B to the US Department ofINFORMATIONAL LETTER: 93 TO: Superintendents of Schools, Special Education Directors, CDS Boards of Directors, CDS Regional Site Directors The General Education Provisions Act (GEPA) requires that the State publish each proposed application in a manner that will ensure circulation throughout the State at least 60 days prior to the date on which the plan is submitted to the Secretary or on which the plan becomes effective. Maine is required to complete applications for both the Part C (birth through two) and Part B programs under IDEA annually. We encourage your participation in this process by reviewing the applications and submitting comments, if you choose. Written comments will be accepted from the date the applications were first posted on the Department’s web site March 10, 2008 to 5 PM on May 5, 2008. Comments are to be submitted to: Jaci Holmes, Federal Liaison, Maine Department of Education, SHS #23, Augusta, ME or via email to jaci.holmes@maine.gov for the Part B application and to Debra Hannigan, State Director of Child Development Services, SHS#23, Augusta, Maine or via email to debra.hannigan@maine.gov for the Part C application. Both the Part C and the Part B applications are posted on the Department’s Special Education Web page at: http://www.maine.gov/education/speced/applications/index.html
