From: Angela Faherty Ph.D., Commissioner of Education

Subject: Resource Kits for State Performance Plan Indicators [under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)]

I am pleased to inform you that the Department has posted Resource Kits, organized by specific indicators under the State Performance Plan (SPP), at:  http://www.maine.gov/education/speced/gsst/index.html .  These Resource Kits supply a wealth of information and tools specifically selected for and founded upon evidence-based practices to assist teachers, schools and school administrative units on issues relating to:

  1. Graduation (Indicator B-1),
  2. Drop-Outs (Indicator B-2),
  3. Assessments (Indicator B-3),
  4. Suspensions and Expulsions (Indicator B-4),
  5. Least Restrictive Environment (Indicator B-5),
  6. Parent Involvement (Indicator B-8), and
  7. Eligibility Timeframe (Indicator B-11).

Beverly Mattson from RMC Research Corporation created these Kits under the Maine State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) funded by IDEA.  We hope that you find these Resource Kits informative and helpful in your work toward improving results for all children, and particularly for all children with disabilities.

For more information or questions concerning these Resource Kits, please contact Dawn Kliphan, SPDG Co-Director, at Dawn.Kliphan@maine.gov or 624-6649.
