I am pleased to invite you to the Maine Department of Education’s third Annual Advanced Placement Conference to be held on September 24, 2010 at the Augusta Civic Center. The theme for the conference is “Creating a School-Wide Community of Excellence.” We are very fortunate to have Mary Ellen Auriemma, Senior Educational Manager K-12 Services, The College Board as a Keynote Speaker who will conduct a general session on the features and tools available through AP’s new Online Score Reports system. The session will include a quick review on various ways to sort, organize, and analyze data as well as provide an overview of what is common – and what is subject-specific – within the Instructional Planning Reports. Now that these reports are accessible to all teachers online, you are asked to download your own reports and bring them to this session. After the initial analysis of the reports, there will be time to discuss outcomes of your reports in content specific sessions. To download your reports, please use the link provided. https://scores.collegeboard.com/pawra/home.action . We have also structured the day to include course-specific breakout sessions. Please see the attached agenda and session guide. AP Coordinators will have an opportunity to connect with other Coordinators, share best practices, and discuss ways of improving and expanding AP programs as well as receive course development updates from the College Board. Attached is the outline of the tentative agenda, session guide, and conference registration information. There is no cost for school administrative units meeting the 40% low-income criteria. Teacher substitute costs will also be covered by those schools qualifying under this criterion. The cost for all non-qualifying school administrative units is $50.00 per attendee. Please make checks payable to: Treasurer, State of Maine. Registrations must be received no later than September 17, 2010. Please register online at www.maine.gov/education/apip/registration/ For more information on conference registration, please contact Nancy Lamontagne at 207-624-6822 or by email nancy.a.lamontagne@maine.gov .
