The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention develops and delivers services to preserve, protect and promote the health and well-being of the citizens of Maine. The Division of Environmental Health, Drinking Water Program, has a current vacancy in Bangor.

Job Duties

As an Assistant Environmental Engineer in the Drinking Water Program you will conduct field inspections of community water systems, provide technical assistance to water systems, oversee construction projects funded by the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and emergency response. This position requires knowledge of a number of technical rules relating to the federal Safe Drinking Water Act and will work directly with public water supplies, consultants, and municipal and quasi-municipal agencies. Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Requirements

A Bachelors Degree in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or related engineering field - OR - an equivalent combination of related experience and/or training. For non-engineering college graduates and non-degreed candidates: Certification of Engineering-in-Training as issued by the Maine State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required. Special consideration will be given for knowledge of drinking water treatment processes.
