The Office of Adults with Cognitive and Physical Disabilities is responsible for providing leadership and active partnership in Maine's comprehensive system of support to individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities.

Job Duties

As an Adult Protective Services Investigator your duties will include:

- Assessing allegations of abuse, neglect, exploitation concerning people with mental retardation or autism.
- Assessing the threat of harm and/or risk from abuse, neglect or exploitation.
- Soliciting and evaluating information concerning dependency, immediate danger and threat of harm.
- Writing detailed reports, with findings concerning allegations.
- Making recommendations to reduce risk.
- Overseeing the work of approved Agency Investigators.

Requirements

Six (6) years of education and/or professional experience in social services casework, social services program development/delivery, or social services related fiscal/budget administration/analysis work.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in case management, developmental disabilities or autism, investigation and report writing. In order to properly evaluate your experience, you must respond to the following performance areas on a separate sheet of paper:

1. Please summarize your experience working with people with developmental disabilities or autism (or other disabilities).

2. Please summarize what work experience you have in client health and safety.

3. Please summarize what work experiences you have in conducting investigations, evaluating evidence, making findings of fact, and writing reports.

4. Please summarize what work experience you have overseeing the work of others that would lead you to feel qualified to oversee the work of approved agency investigators.
