Riverview Psychiatric Center is a center for best practice, treatment, education and research, for individuals with serious, persistent mental illness, and co-occurring substance use disorders.
Job Duties
As the Personnel Officer, you will assist the Director of Human Resources in overseeing human resource functions and activities at Riverview Psychiatric Center, Augusta, ME; you will oversee the day-to-day human resources activities for the hospital under the direction of the Department’s Human Resources Director. Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Ensuring the consistent implementation with RPC of state personnel program policies, practices, and procedures, collective bargaining agreement provisions, and applicable state and federal, laws, rules, and regulations.
• Ensuring all RPC recruitment activities are completed on a timely basis and in accordance with Civil Service laws, and rules.
• Providing ongoing employee relations support to RPC managers, including contract administration, discipline, and grievance resolution.
• Investigating allegations of employee misconduct and preparing investigation summary reports.
• Overseeing the day-today administration of RPC’s automated payroll system.
• Managing the facilities workers’ compensation program.
Requirements
In order to qualify, you must have a six (6) year combination of education and professional level experience in human resources management. Preference will be given to candidates with a professional background in human resource and labor relations experience in a hospital setting. The background of well-qualified candidates will demonstrate the following competencies:
1. A proven ability to oversee recruitment and selection functions for a large agency preferably in a hospital setting.
2. Exceptional negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to successfully resolve labor/management disagreements.
3. The ability to research and investigate allegations of employee misconduct.
4. A proven ability to oversee payroll functions and staff in an automated payroll system environment.
5. A proven ability and knowledge in workers compensation.
