Agency Information
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides supportive, preventive, protective, public health and intervention services that protect the public health and assist our customers in meeting their needs; and that assist families in providing for the developmental, health and safety needs of their children. DHHS strives to provide these programs and services while respecting the rights and preferences of individuals and families. The Office of Child & Family Services (OCFS), within DHHS is responsible for ensuring the safety, permanency and well-being of children and families through community networks, local resources, and life-long family connections throughout Maine. OCFS fulfills its mission through: Policy and Prevention, Intervention and Care Management, Community Partnerships, and Accountability and Information Services. This position is a member of the Information Services Team in Accountability and Information Services and will be based in Augusta.
Job Duties
As the Program Specialist for the Maine Automated Child Welfare Information System (MACWIS) you will work as part of the Information Services Team to assist, support and monitor the users of the MACWIS system. You will work closely with the Office of Information Technology and their helpdesk staff on system data requests and user issues. You will be responsible for reviewing and prioritizing daily requests and determining the appropriate course of action for successful resolution for the system or user's issue. You will also provide immediate assistance and education to users while on the phone or through e-mail.
The position requires familiarity with each MACWIS system release requirements and an understanding of complex child welfare practice models. To be successful you must possess exceptional customer service, organizational and documentation skills. You must also have prior experience utilizing enterprise-level data management systems (DMS). A working knowledge of State DBS such as MACWIS or ACES is preferred.
Requirements
In order to qualify, you must have six (6) years of education and/or professional experience in social services casework, social services program development/delivery, or social services related fiscal/budget administration/analysis work. The background of well-qualified candidates will demonstrate expertise in the following areas:
1. A knowledge of and recent experience utilizing enterprise-level data management systems (DMS). Please be specific in describing DMS you are experienced with and how you use the DMS in your work activities.
2. A knowledge of and/or work experience with the programs and services provided by the Office of Child and Family Services.
3. A record of exceptional customer service and organizational skills.
4. A record of excellent written documentation skills.
