Agency Information
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides supportive, preventive, protective, public health and intervention services that protect the public health and assist our customers in meeting their needs; and that assist families in providing for the developmental, health and safety needs of their children. The Office for Family Independence, Division of Support Enforcement and Recovery (DSER), is responsible for the development and implementation of the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures necessary to assure that all non-custodial parents are contributing to the economic support of their children. Responsibilities include establishing paternity, locating missing non-custodial parents, and establishing and enforcing child support orders and representing the Department's interest in the Maine District Court and the Family Division of the Maine District Court in matters pertaining to child support. The department is currently recruiting for a vacancy in Lewiston.
Job Duties
This is investigative work of a supervisory nature in planning, directing, and coordinating support enforcement, collection, recovery, and related court activities within an assigned district. Responsibilities include directing and overseeing assigned program staff engaged in support enforcement and recovery activities; and overseeing and coordinating the preparation, filing, and execution of cases with the Family Division of the Maine District Court System. Additional duties include developing, implementing, and monitoring program policies, rules, and regulations; reviewing and assessing program performance; coordinating district operations with other resources and agencies; and resolving support enforcement and recovery activity issues within the region.
Requirements
In order to qualify, you must have a six (6) year combination of training, education, and/or experience which would demonstrate knowledge of support enforcement and recovery activities to include at least two (2) years of experience in support enforcement and/or recovery. Preference will be given to applicants with 2 or more year's experience as a State of Maine Human Services Enforcement Agent.
